English Language Development

Highlands Community Charter School at Shore of Hope offers an English Language Development (ELD) program to individuals whose primary home language is something other than English.

This program includes basic academic subjects (California and U.S. History, Government, as well as Math and Science), Citizenship Preparation, Parenting for Academic Success and Family Literacy. Classes are available for students from the Literacy to Advanced levels of English proficiency.

ALL CLASSES ARE FREE! Students must be 22 years of age or older. Students must not possess a U.S. High School diploma and must be committed to attending class four hours per day; Monday through Friday.

The ELD Course through Highlands Community Charter School prepares students for transfer into high school programs, entry-level employment, career training and post-secondary education. Classes focus on the communication, skills and knowledge necessary to become successful in everyday life, school, and employment. Currently, of the classes is under the instruction of Ali Diaz.
