Shores of Hope offers diverse housing options to meet the unique needs of our clients. Young adults in our programs work closely with case managers to overcome barriers to independence, such as securing essential documents, obtaining health insurance, accessing mental health services, and repairing credit.
Through partnerships with trusted agencies, we ensure our clients receive comprehensive support to achieve independent living and reach their personal goals. Our mission is to provide the tools, resources, and encouragement needed to build a brighter future.
Currently homeless or people at high risk for becoming homeless have access to our case management team that specializes in securing long term housing. Our program provides a variety of assistance with rent payments, utility payments, deposits, landlord mediation, and moving expenses. All clients who are enrolled in our programs work with case managers to help remove any and all barriers preventing them from long term independent living including help securing original documentation for school and work, health insurance, access to mental health services, credit repair etc.
We provide a three-bedroom emergency shelter in partnership with the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office and Empower Yolo nestled within a safe and supportive environment for homeless, disabled, elderly, LGBTQ, and transition-aged youth victims of crime residing in Yolo County.
The Shores of Hope Child Development Center has received funding from the California Department of Education Child Development Division for more than 30 years. Through this program we are able to serve low income eligible working families by providing high quality early education in a daily preschool child care setting with credentialed personnel. Each of our youth receive quality curriculum and nutritional services while in attendance.
We serve up to 24 pre-school children 3-5 Years old with a wide range of activities designed to help them learn and grow. We have a number of slots available for children who have special needs and require individualized learning plans. Our staff is diverse in experience and are fluent in Dari Farsi and Spanish.
At Shores of Hope, we are committed to supporting our community in times of need. That’s why we offer emergency food bags at our center four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM. These bags are filled with essential items to help individuals and families facing food insecurity, ensuring that no one has to go hungry during difficult times.
In addition to this, our clothing closet is a beacon of hope for those experiencing urgent needs. Whether you require warm clothing, essential hygiene items, pet food for your beloved companion, or a blanket to provide comfort and warmth, we are here to help.
We understand the challenges life can bring, and our goal is to provide not just resources but a sense of dignity, compassion, and community for every person we service.
Shores of Hope provides unhoused individuals with a secure mailing address to receive critical documents, such as driver’s licenses, SNAP benefits, and benefit correspondence. This service removes barriers to accessing essential resources, employment, and housing, supporting their path toward stability and independence.
This program allows us to increase the access of comprehensive sexual and reproductive health education and resources to Northern California’s Slavic immigrant and Afghan refugee communities with Limited English Proficiency (LEP.) We partner with San Joaquin County Clinics to provide translation services to their clients and are able to serve clients in San Joaquin, Sacramento, and Yolo Counties.
Shores of Hope provides distance learning translation services for low-income families in West Sacramento to families with limited English proficieny who speak Russian, Dari Farsi, and Pashto. This program assists parents and students with translation services in from Kindergarten to the twelveth grade. Our staff coordinates with schools to pick up books and computers, sets-up computer and applications, online portal training and review, syllabus and assignment review, translates school district notifications, translates teacher notifications and assignment reviews, monitors children’s online activities, and signs up for school lunch assignments.
Shores of Hope provides courses to youth ages 14 to 19 living in Northern California. The CUR? program is a 7-week course that teaches youth the importance of building strong work, school, personal, and romantic relationships.
Comprised of 13 evidence-based lessons developed by the Dibble Institute, topics include Knowing Yourself , Knowing Your Expectations, Principles of Smart Relationships, What Makes an Unhealthy Relationship, Communication, The Impact of Technology on Relationships, and more.
